Air Vice Marshal Steven Abbott CBE
Chair of Governors
Steven Abbott is a retired RAF officer, but now works for the MOD as a member of the Senior Directing Staff and Course Director at the Royal College of Defence Studies. A Governor since 2008, he is currently Chair of Governors. He joined the RAF at age 18 and after completing a degree at UEA served for 37 years, retiring in 2011.
Steven has served all over the world, including service in Germany, Hong Kong, Central America, the Falkland Islands, Afghanistan and the Middle East and, less excitingly, Whitehall. He is a graduate of Cambridge University as well as UEA. His interests include riding the Cresta Run, field sports, politics and history. He lives locally with his wife Patricia their family and two Labradors.
Steven is passionate about the value that Culford School provides, not only for its formal education but for the commitment to developing confident, articulate young people with firmly set moral values, who are ready and able to face the modern world.
