Culford’s Spectacular under 11 Tournament

Four teams travelled to Culford Prep School for a spectacular day’s cricket. The competition followed the same format as the T20 blast and was filled with good cricket and non-stop action. Town Close played Moreton hall in a one sided affair, however, did include a tremendous knock from a chap called Merlin. The action  intensified on Pitch Two where a full strength Culford took on the Suffolk under 11s.

Suffolk batted first and scored a competitive 114 for 5 off the allotted overs. Culford’s response was nothing short of extraordinary and saw them 4 runs short with two balls to go. A wicket followed and Monte walked calmly to the crease. The ball was bowled, he rocked on to the front foot and through his hand towards the ball, crushing it to the boundary for four! The Games a tie! Tournament rules stated that if teams are tied it goes to a count off of sixes and Culford lost, 1-0.

The bronze fixture was one sided, however the final was another cracker. Town close chasing 143 to win found themselves needing 14 off the last over and unfortunately ended 4 short.

A cracking days cricket, with over 100 people supporting, champagne and strawberries and children being active.
