Patricia Abbott was appointed Governor in 2014. She is an experienced primary school teacher with special educational needs experience and a former Deputy Head of a Service Children's School in Germany where she spent 11 years of her teaching career. Patricia was born in Saltburn by the Sea, North Yorkshire and attended Cleveland Grammar School for Girls before studying to become a teacher at St John's College, York. She was awarded a Bachelor of Education degree followed by an ACP in Special Education.
In 1978 she moved to British Forces Germany to teach in Service Schools. Whilst teaching at RAF Gutersloh she met her husband, Steve, a fellow governor and a life as a Serviceman’s wife began in 1989. Following the birth of her two children, both of whom were boarders at Culford, Patricia trained and qualified as an Ofsted Inspector for Early Years. After her move to Suffolk in 2009, she has worked as an exam invigilator in a local school.
Now retired, Patricia has time to devote to her role as a Governor and enjoy her spare time hobbies, which include swimming, gardening, theatre and the arts and working her black Labrador, Belle.
