Tuesday 17th January v South Lee

U13 A
Won 29-13
MVP – Holly Reynolds

A great start to the season for the U13A team girls. The team were composed and showed some great netball throughout the game.  On occasions the team were a bit rushed and this is something to work on looking forward.  The various combinations worked well at both ends of the court; a well-deserved win by all.

Won 25-0
MVP – Isobel Melville Ross

This was a very one sided game right from the start, Culford proved too strong for the opposition; South Lee. The conditions weren’t the most pleasant, but the U12’s coped well with this and passed the ball accurately and scored with almost every attempt.  All of the girls played outstandingly well and thoroughly deserved the phenomenal win.

Lost 7-13
MVP – Polly Cailes

The game was pretty even throughout, Culford had a few near misses, but the opposition proved to strong this time. However, all the girls played really well, Polly Cailes made some great interceptions and her movement on court makes her the player of the match.

Drew 5-5
MVP – Anya Lorriman Hughes

A slow start Culford found the team 2-0 down very quickly and looking forward was not positive. After adjusting to the weather and getting in the flow of the game, Culford started to gain some momentum and were able to pull a goal back. Culford used the ball more effectively and their movement off the ball became a lot better. The scores were shared in the next two quarters and Culford were 4-3 down going into the final quarter. After some tense play Culford began to dominate possession and eventually equalised in the final minute to finish at 5-5.

Wednesday 18th January v St Johns

Lost 15-20
MVP – Alicia Hassan

Culford began slowly in their fixture against St Johns.  Against a tall opposition Culford struggled to get the ball passed their hands and into the shooters resulting in St Johns taking an early lead.  With some combination changes in the 2nd quarter, Culford moved the ball more effectively down the court and our shooters were able to convert the interceptions; resulting in us pulling back and taking the lead.  It was a well fought game by all and Alicia Hassan worked extremely well in the shooting circle, both in her movement and her shooting consistency.  Unfortunately, Culford ran out of time before closing the gap fully.

Lost 4-22
MVP – Sophie Walker

The U13B had a big squad out today resulting in all U3 getting time on court.  They faced a strong St Johns team who were drilled with tall and accurate shooters which we struggled to break. Sophie Walker made some well-timed drives in attack and positioned herself well.  At timed Culford showed some great netball and moved the ball up the court with super movements and passing, they now need to work on their positioning when playing and when to time their drive for the ball.

Won 15-9
MVP – Isobel Melville-Ross and Madeline Lorriman Hughes

This was a match that need not be so close. The St John’s team were able to get goals because of some poor passing by Culford. Eventually Culford settled into the match and managed to link the ball nicely down the court to the shooters and managed to gain their second win of the week.

Won 5-3
MVP – Lily Ironmonger

A lovely match to umpire, and a very even match. This game deserved to be a draw, however due to the fantastic play by Lily and Georgia Ironmonger, and their tireless commitment to the team, the game turned in favour of Culford. Super shooting from Polly Fothergill and all of the girls in the year took part in the fixture today.
