Simon Pott is the Sole Principal of Simon Pott & Company, Chartered Surveyor, land agent, auctioneer, mediator and a Consultant to Jackson-Stops & Staff.
He is a Past President of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (1995-6) having been President of the Rural Practice Division in 1988-89. In 2010 he finished as Chairman of the Judges of the RICS Awards after 14 years. From 2000 to 2006 he was Honorary Commander of the USAF base at RAF Lakenheath and from 2005 to October 2011 he was Chairman of Governors of the Royal Agricultural College at Cirencester.
Current appointments include Vice President of the newly-created Royal Agricultural University, Chairman of The Almshouse Association, The National Association of Almshouses Charity Investment Fund and The Day Foundation. He is a Feoffee [Trustee] of the Guildhall Feoffment in Bury St Edmunds, President of The Old Michaelian Association and a Reader of the Queen’s Anniversary Prizes for Higher and Further Education.He is a Director of the Elslack Estate in Yorkshire, has had a three year term as Chairman of The Bury St Edmunds Society and has recently been elected Chairman of Bury in Bloom which has won national and international awards.He has just become Chairman of the Organ Donation Committee of West Suffolk Hospital. He is a Liveryman of The Grocers’ Company and the City of London.
Together with his wife Jenny, he owns an award-winning hotel in Bury St Edmunds and they have four children and five Grandchildren.
