Day Pupils

While Culford has a vibrant boarding community, some 40% of Culford’s Senior School pupils are day pupils. Day pupils are, therefore, in a unique position to benefit from the excellent pastoral care and friendly House community, even though they return home each evening. Flexibility for pupils and their families is offered through occasional boarding, part boarding and extended day options. All Senior pupils may stay at Culford until 8.30pm at no additional charge.

All day pupils are also assigned a House and have a Housemaster or Housemistress as well as a personal tutor. The tutor meets with pupils on a daily basis and is always available to provide support and advice on any work, personal, friendship, health or other matter.

Day Houses have recreational areas as well as access to study facilities and lockers for storing personal belongings. Matrons provide refreshments at break times and Housemasters and Housemistresses will normally be available to talk to in the Houses first thing in the morning, at lunchtime and at the end of the school day.

The school day begins at 8.25am and finishes at 5.20pm after activities. All Senior pupils have the option to stay for supper and to work in the Library until 8.30pm. There is no additional charge for this facility.

Occasional Boarding

Day pupils may elect to board on an occasional basis up to 10 nights each term, subject to availability. Many pupils and parents have found this convenient when a pupil is involved in drama rehearsals, or are leaving for a trip early the next morning, for example, or if parents are away from home overnight.

Extended Day option: free until 8.30pm

Day pupils are fully integrated into its boarding community, with options to part or occasional board, as well as to stay at school for an extended day, joining in activities after school, having supper and completing homework before going home up until 8.30pm. To find out more about this, please contact our Admissions Team on admissions@culford.co.uk or call 01284 385308.
