Ian Devlin

Head of Design and Technology

What is your role at Culford?

I am Head of Design & Technology, a main school tutor in Cornwallis House and help with boy’s hockey.

What did you do before you came to Culford?

Prior to joining the staff at Culford I taught in several maintained schools in East Anglia. Before that I worked in the aerospace industry for Westland Helicopters.

What is your favourite piece of music, novel or artist?

I don’t really have a favourite book but anything by Tom Sharpe always brings a smile to my face. Musical tastes are rather eclectic but I prefer to see and hear it live.

What is the best thing about working at Culford?

I have taught here for a long time, and the school has always had a very friendly, supportive atmosphere. The peace and tranquillity down by the lake is the perfect antidote to the rather manic pace of modern life.

What are your interests outside School?

Away from school I take pleasure in watching live sport and music, exploring the remoter parts of the region and looking at wildlife. At home I enjoy being creative in the kitchen especially if it includes ingredients from my garden.
