Culford’s Sixth Form boarding offers pupils a combination of freedoms and responsibilities that perfectly prepares them for independent life at university and beyond.  Rated as ‘Outstanding’ by the Independent Schools Inspectorate, (ISI) Culford Sixth Form boarding allows young adults to learn and develop in a safe, friendly and caring environment.

Culford School Boarding Facilities

Culford boasts four modern boarding Houses which are run by friendly and experienced Housemasters and Housemistresses who take a genuine interest in the pupils under their care. Sixth Formers also have their own personal tutor who is always available to help with academic work, aid with time management and encourage them in their ambitions and extra-curricular activities.

Boarding School Life at Culford

Sixth Form boarding at Culford is rather like life at a campus university.  Pupils live in study bedrooms which in the Lower Sixth (Year 12) are a mix of twin and single rooms, while in the Upper Sixth (Year 13) each student has their own room. Sixth Formers also have access to two common rooms, one of which is for their exclusive use.

There is a packed weekend activities programme, from outings to London and trips to the theatre or cinema, through to mountain biking and go-karting. At the School there are plenty of social areas to meet with friends, play pool or watch TV in one of the cosy and inviting Common Rooms. All Houses have kitchen areas where snacks and hot drinks can be made, while all meals are taken in either the Ashby Dining Room or in the coffee-shop style Sixth Form Centre.

Flexible Boarding at Culford School

Culford offers flexible arrangements for boarders to the extent that non-boarders can board from time to time as the need arises.  Although the majority of boarders stay at school for the whole week, students may choose to go home or stay with friends at the weekend.

Tuck Shop

The Senior School Tuck Shop is organised and run by Sixth Form students to fund their annual charitable trip to Malawi. It is open from 4.15-5.45pm every weekday, except for Wednesdays and is located in Cornwallis Boarding House, at the heart of the boarding community. Rather than using cash, pupils are given a Tuck Shop card with £25.00 of credit loaded every term and pupils can purchase drinks, snacks and toiletries.
