Sixth Form Trips & Tours

Although Culford School makes an excellent base for learning, with beautiful grounds and outstanding facilities, pupils benefit from travelling outside the classroom for educational trips and sporting tours. The Sixth Form is also especially proud of its annual charitable trip to Malawi.

Educational Trips

As part of the activities schedule, Sixth Formers who board also enjoy fun trips to London and Cambridge. Educational trips are organised by Heads of Department and many are designed to supplement coursework for A Level or spark interest in particular academic areas. Recent trips have included a Physics Trip to the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland, a Geography trip to Iceland, a Sixth Form trip to Westminster to hear MPs speak, an Art and Design trip to London’s galleries and a Drama trip to the National Theatre.

Culford Drama department has graced the stage at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival twice; in 2011 and 2014. After taking the school’s stunning production of Olwen Wymark’s play Find me in 2011, students returned to the Fringe in 2014 showing their original production of the comic musical The Press-Ganged Fool at The Paradise St Augustines Theatre over three nights to a packed audience.

Sporting Tours

Culford’s best sporting teams and players frequently travel abroad for training camps and competitive fixtures. For example, the Netball team travelled to Barbados in autumn half term for training and fixtures against the famous Caribbean netballers. Hockey players have enjoyed pre-season training camps in Holland and Spain. The Rugby 1st XV had a Tour of Scotland, playing against the strongest school teams in Edinburgh, Stirling and Dundee.
